Living in a small space can be frustrating – for many reasons. Not only do you have to figure out small space furniture, comfortable spots for guests and pets, and perhaps even navigate small space living with a roommate. However, your small space can seem much larger if you apply a few techniques, tips, and tricks to make the most out of your humble abode. Read on to learn more!
Cool it down
To make your space seem lighter and airy, try colors in cool tones. It’s pretty well-known that white walls make rooms seem bigger – but white walls can read as, well, boring. Try different colors, like light blue, pink, or other pastels. Grays always work in small spaces and look amazing with white trim.
Keep it consistent
Paint walls and ceilings the same color to make a smooth transition from one area to another. This will not only brighten up your space but also make it seem bigger, as you will have everything look consistent. Logically, it makes the ceiling look taller as well.
Break it up
Have a narrow room? Trying “breaking it up” by painting your walls different colors. For example, paint one wall in a forest green color, and the other a lighter green color. However, if you’re considering painting a small entryway, single saturated shades work best.
Utilize accent colors
Painting your wall above the fireplace or a single wall in your kitchen or bedroom will really liven up your space – and broaden it. Try colors in shades of red, navy blue, and gray. Benjamin Moore has some great red colors, and Valspar has some cool gray colors.
